Data Deletion

You have the right to delete your personal data from SoberX at any time. This page explains what data we hold, how to delete it, what happens after deletion, and what limited data we are required to retain under applicable law.

1. What Data SoberX Holds About You

Before deleting, it helps to understand where your data lives:

Key distinction: Data stored on your device is under your direct control and is never held on our servers. Account deletion removes server-side data; removing the app removes device-side data.

2. Types of Deletion

There are three ways to remove your data from SoberX, depending on what you want to delete:

Option A — Full account deletion

Permanently deletes your account and all associated server-side data. This is the most complete deletion option. → See Section 3

Option B — Local data only

Removes all data stored on your device — including Voice Release recordings, Safety Chain contacts, and offline habit logs — without deleting your account. → See Section 6

Option C — Selective data deletion

Requests removal of a specific category of data (e.g., support emails, crash logs) without deleting your full account.

Contact us at app@icitech.com.tr with the subject line "Data Deletion Request — Partial" and specify the data you want removed. We will respond within 30 days.

3. How to Delete Your Account

Account deletion is available directly within the app. Follow these steps:

On iOS

Settings → Account → Delete Account → Confirm
  1. Open SoberX and go to Settings (bottom navigation or profile icon)
  2. Tap Account
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
  4. Read the confirmation screen carefully
  5. Tap Confirm Delete to proceed

On Android

Settings → Account → Delete Account → Confirm
  1. Open SoberX and go to Settings
  2. Tap Account
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account
  4. Read the confirmation screen carefully
  5. Tap Confirm Delete to proceed

What you will be asked to confirm

Before deletion is finalized, the app will show you:

  • A summary of what will be permanently deleted
  • A reminder to cancel your active subscription first (if applicable)
  • A reminder that deletion is irreversible and data cannot be recovered
  • A final confirmation tap to proceed

Deletion is immediate and irreversible. Once confirmed, your account and server-side data enter the deletion queue and cannot be restored.

4. What Gets Deleted and When

Anonymized within 30 days

Where full deletion is not immediately possible due to technical dependencies (e.g., aggregate analytics), we will irreversibly anonymize your data so that it can no longer be linked to you.

5. Data We Are Required to Retain

Certain data must be retained for a defined period even after you delete your account. This data is kept in compliance with applicable Turkish law and cannot be deleted on request during the retention period.

This data is stored securely, access-restricted, and used only for the legal purpose for which it is retained. It is not used for any commercial, marketing, or product purpose after your account is deleted.

6. Local Data on Your Device

SoberX stores the following data only on your device — it is never held on our servers:

  • Voice Release recordings and transcripts
  • Safety Chain contact names and details
  • Urge Wave session history
  • Focus Tunnel session history
  • Risk Radar urge pattern data
  • Habit logs created while offline (if cloud backup is disabled)

This data is not deleted by account deletion because it never reaches our servers. To remove it:

Delete local data by uninstalling the app

Uninstalling permanently removes all locally stored SoberX data from your device.

Delete local data without uninstalling

Recommendation: For the most complete data removal, delete your account (Section 3) and uninstall the app.

7. Third-Party Data

Deleting your SoberX account removes data from our servers, but some data exists with third parties. Here is what you should know:

RevenueCat

RevenueCat holds a pseudonymous customer ID and your subscription transaction history. Account deletion in SoberX will trigger a deletion request to RevenueCat for your associated records. You can also submit a direct deletion request at:

Apple App Store (iOS)

Apple holds your App Store purchase history independently. SoberX account deletion does not affect Apple's records. To manage your Apple data:

Google Play (Android)

Google holds your Google Play purchase history independently. SoberX account deletion does not affect Google's records. To manage your Google data:

Crash and analytics data

Crash logs and technical diagnostics are automatically deleted from our systems on a 12-month rolling basis, independently of account deletion.

8. After Deletion — Can You Recover Your Data?

No. Account deletion is permanent and irreversible.

Once you confirm deletion:

  • Your account data enters a deletion queue and is removed from our systems within 30 days
  • There is no grace period or recovery window after confirmation
  • We are unable to restore your account, habit history, streaks, or any other data after deletion is confirmed
  • Local device data (Voice Release, Safety Chain, offline logs) is also permanently removed when you uninstall the app

Before deleting, consider:

  • Taking screenshots of progress or milestones you want to keep
  • Exporting your data if the export feature is available in Settings → Privacy → Export My Data
  • Making sure you have cancelled your active subscription (see Section 9)

9. Cancel Subscription Before Deleting

Important: deleting your account does not cancel your subscription.

If you have an active SoberX Premium subscription, you must cancel it separately through the App Store or Google Play before deleting your account. If you do not:

  • Your account will be deleted but billing will continue until you cancel
  • You will no longer be able to manage the subscription from within the SoberX app
  • You will need to cancel directly through your platform's subscription management

Once your subscription is cancelled and your account is deleted, no further charges will be made.

10. Deletion Without an Account

If you use SoberX in offline mode (without creating an account), we do not hold any personal data about you on our servers — there is nothing to delete on our end.

To remove all data in offline mode, simply uninstall the app. This permanently removes all locally stored data from your device.

11. Your Additional Privacy Rights

In addition to full account deletion, you have the following rights over your data:

Turkish users may apply to the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) at https://www.kvkk.gov.tr/.

We will respond to all data rights requests within 30 days, free of charge.
